After growing up in Hong Kong I returned back to Australia in 1994. Whilst living in Hong Kong I took up horse riding and this became my passion for many years to come.
I became a competitive and successful show jumper competing in Hong Kong, Morocco and throughout Australia. I wanted to make this my living by means of competition, buying and selling horses and teaching others how to ride. My goal was to compete at the 2004 Olympics. I prepared hard initially, however eventually I discovered that the expenses involved in keeping my four legged friends were far to high for any earnings that I was ever going to make. Sadly, I had to give away a passion that I absolutely loved and was good at.
I am the type of person that if I cannot give it my all then I will not do it all.
I then entered the ‘real’ world of working life and had no real interest in any other particular sport. Keeping fit with a basic training regime kept me in reasonable shape for a few years however, I had no goals to work towards.
It all really started for me when I met my partner Campbell in 2005 at the gym, and we started training together. He trained hard and was interested in bodybuilding himself and his interest and encouragement was the catalyst for my interest in training. In addition some other friends from the gym who had competed themselves mentioned that I had a physique that may just adapt to a strict diet and training regime.
My first taste of what was to come was my entering into a local 12-week challenge to see if I could handle the nutritional and dietary aspects necessary. I was extremely happy with my results so in 2006 I with some feelings of apprehension entered my first competition.
Much to my astonishment I won the Novice category and 4 hours later won the OVERALL Women’s Figure Title. I was so excited with the achievement as all the other girls looked so fantastic and a number of them had big reputations. I then went on to place 2nd in the Open Figure Australian Titles in Melbourne.
Initially my plan was to not compete for a year and attempt to build a little more muscle. That idea of course lasted about 2 months as the competition bug had well and truly got a hold of me.
In 2007 I won the Short Figure ANB QLD Championships and also managed to take out the OVERALL Ms Figure Title. I then went to the Nationals in Sydney a week later and won the Ms Australia Short Figure.
With those results I have qualified to compete in the WNSO World Title Championships in June 2008, which I am currently training for. I will be competing in Level 4 Figure and Muscle Model and hope to be very competitive in these divisions.
A lot of the success that I have experienced throughout the last couple of years would not have been possible without the support, encouragement and advice from Jason Clark.
Team Musashi have generously sponsored me in 2007 and 2008 and I am now under the wing of Jon Davies. Thankfully with his knowledge and guidance I know I am in the best hands possible and know I will be in the best possible condition for the WNSO World Titles 2008.
In addition the expertise of Jo Rogers (Style on Stage) has provided me with amazing routines and gorgeous bikinis to give me the most polished finish and overall package when I step on stage.
Finally without the support from family and friends I would have never achieved what I have today, I am extremely grateful and this is a huge part of my success.
